@stldaddy & @hollerdaddy. Thanks for your responses to this discussion! After I started this discussion I had to rethink my thoughts on being a dad. Bottom line I am longing to have my own biological child. After 11 years of trying, we have just about given up I suppose. But in all that, I didn't see what was already around me. I've been managing pretty well for the past 7 years. Having a baby sister and making sure my stepson knows he's the big brother and the second man of the house makes us all one big happy family. His father abandoned him before birth --- I hate to say it but this makes it pretty easy also after I got over my initial bumps and bruises (learning how to be a dad).

i've am/been a stepmom twice and my ex and current husband was/is a stepdad. there are always some issues, but we are learning & surviving everyday.
