Well let's see. I own a PS3, Co own a Xbox 360 (never touch it since I bought the PS3 back in January)Game Cube, PS2, Sega Dreamcast, N64 and SNES. Also own a DS Lite and a Gameboy Advance and Gameboy Pocket. (The gameboys dont get touched though.)
Gamertag is "BFTC"
I have played City of Heroes/City of Villans, then moved on to WoW. Played Warhammer Online for a bit, but did not hold my interest enough to keep playing. I currently play Champions Online (which I love) I am waiting until Star Wars Old Republic comes out. That will be my game of choice...
1. Do you game with any other member of your family? (Children if they're old enough, or significant others if you're lucky enough) Yes, with all of them though my husband does not play often. As far as the kids are concerned, are ya kidding me? they've been playing games for a long time. we have 4 different platforms in the house: xbox, xbox 360, playstation 2, and my wii (i inserted 'my' cos it is all mine lol)...not to mention the kids have the old nintendo gameboy advance.
If so -
1.1 How did you get them to join you? actually it was me joining them. all my the kids are suckers for anything electronic, gadgety, techie, etc.
1.2 What games do you play together? w the wii we play cooking mama, wii sports, wii fit, guitar hero, boogie superstar...ps2 we play rock band, dance dance revolution, gh..all of them. the xbox 360 is my stepson's he got from his mom's family one xmas. so we've only played rock band 2. 12 yo dd likes to play the action games though: call of duty, etc.
1.3 What games would you like to play together that you don't right now? if i was any good at any of the games that required more eye/hand coordination and such, i'd play whatever they wanted to. but i suck...not gonna lie. was gonna say no shame in my game, but that would be a lie haha
1.4 What challenges have you faced, if any, while gaming with a family member? i basically suck at most games so i would probably be the one getting called names if they could call me names haha
i'm not into games like WoW so i won't get addicted to that. i do find i'm more of a 'solo' gamer. you know, games that only require one person & don't have to play against anyone. that way i always win. haha
Hi,
Vitharr here on Aman'Thul. I wake up early to be get an hour or so in. It's great fun.
Wall
I feel for the cat.
Bu yes staying up later is the key although as a dad with a 5yr old who likes ot get up early (7am EST), staying up too late is not very good.
Try to carve out some time when he/she takes naps as well. Even if it is for only an hour, it can be a very productive hour. It may be easier playing consoles to do that than playing an MMO like I do. It is really hard to get together with your online Supergroup/Guild or what have you for group events, instance runs or lthe like. I am always missing something cool. That is the sacrifice I make for being a gamer dad.
Once he gets older (past 5-7) it will et better...at least that is what I am telling myself...lol

Weoohoo, I actually have an answer for a baby question. Does this mean I am learning the ways of the baby? Hmm...
As KV Said, stay up late. I do. Soon as the two of them hit the hay around 9:30, I'm on XBox with Gears and Halo for the next couple of hours. Although, if, and when, your baby isn't sleeping through the night well, you're gonna feel it. So when his toofs are coming in, or he's going through a bad sleeping spell, skip the games and sleep all you can.
Also I discovered that the first few months the baby needed me to hold him much more. And the next couple he needs more attention. So it was tougher to waste brain cells on my games. But after around six months old, he started being able to spend more time crawling around entertaining himself. So now at eight months, he can play around the floor for a couple hours at a time, while I do other stuff. Of course when he starts pushing all the buttons on my Amp and TV and XBox I have to get up, and when he climbs the stairs I have to get up, and when he bonks his head I have to get up, and when he sticks his finger up the cats butt I have to get up...So I am just saying that as the months pass, they are able to entertain themselves longer.

Stay up later. I only get gamer time when my wife and baby have gone to sleep. IF they are awake while I am trying to play its always interrupted and I usually end up stopping. :)

Any advice for an expecting dad who is trying to figure out how to still carve out time for gaming? I've got an NBA 2K9 season to finish!
