We celebrate the offical adoption date (court date). It was one of the best days of our lives. I video recorded it and took pictures. We celebrate our son's birth mom's birthday (with the birth mom of course). Since we took our son home on Christmas day, we have a great memory of Christmas 2007 that we will tell our son for years and years...and I am sure when he is 13, he will roll his eyes and say..."come on Dads, get over it"...
These days will be forever in my mind as they are the most important days in my life. Plus as you said earlier, a great excuse for ice cream :D

Hi all, my partner and I adopted two special needs kids from DCF, or CPS, DSS, and whatever name they go by. Were from mass. Needless to say, life has been one heck of a roller coaster.

Name is (F)reddy. Have adopted two kids via CPS in Texas. My oldest son came to us when he was 9 months old. On the eve of his first birthday CPS contacted us to let us know his mother was pregnant again and wanted to know if we would keep the siblings together. It was a no-brainer. My youngest son came to us, more or less, at birth. Am willing to pass along any information anyone is interested in regarding foster/adoptive parenting in Texas. Most likely will be different than any other area of the country…but there MAY be some similarities as well.
