Just did a dad's duathlon yesterday. 9 miles on the bike with two kids in the burley (12 mh average) followed by a 1 mile run, while the three of them biked the trail. Doesn't sound like much, but finnishing up that ride, going up a good hill late for piano class, puts the stress of the end of a good marathon to shame. Anyone else training as best you can on the kids schedule or with the kids. Here and there, running during ballet or piano 45 mins at a time is frustrating but I guess you do what you can when you can. What else do y'all do?

This is a great reminder and incentive. I just got back on my routine of jogging. I am a novice at jogging/ running, that is certain. I do the fast-walk to slow jog thing. Been back at it for a couple weeks now, been enjoying it much more this go.

OK, I have decided to just run a half marathon and not put my body through full marathon training until next year. I will be running the half on Sept. 20, so I have about 6 weeks to train. I have a 9 miler tomorrow, gitty up!

I had my first long run of my latest marathon training program, a 10 miler. It was very, very brutal. Of course, my 20 high school reunion was this weekend, so not much sleep and too much beer. Plus I decided to run at the hottest part of the day. Not smart..but I got it done. I have 11 miles next Sunday!

I ran track in high school and college, but nothing over 800 meters. Before the marathon the longest I ever ran in a race was 7 miles (Bloomsday in Spokane). I was not real happy with my time, so next week I'll start up the training program again for another marathon in early October. I'll keep this group posted and offer any encouragement I can.

Welcome, guys. I also ran cross-country in early HS, but more to get in shape for other sports.
I started running again after I finished college. I try to run 3 times per week, usually 5K twice, and then 4-5 miles on the weekend.
I've started training for a half-marathon in the fall. Ran one 2 years ago. Ideally, would love to break 2 hours, but probably will be somewhere between 2:00 and 2:10.
Way to go on the marathon, whatnowdad. That's great. I'm not sure I'm ready to tackle that distance.
Joeprah, we're here to encourage you!

I love running. I used to be a cross country runner in HS, but for the last several years I have been battling foot problems. I need encouragement. Great group, thanks for thinking of it.
