Here is a question for all the mowing dads....leave your grass long or short before the winter, and why?

Well, yesterday I almost died while mowing. Nothing spectacular, just your ordinary, run of the mill coronary...myocardial infarction is the proper terminology, I believe. I was mowing to Death Cab for Cutie, as I do twice a week, when...BAM! I felt a sharp pain in my left arm. I could feel it radiate all the way down to my finger tips and back up my shoulder. I thought I was a goner, until I realized that I had run smack dab into the basketball rim set up at the edge of our driveway.
Now, in my defense, we have only lived in this house for two months, and while I was gettin' my groove on, I had inadvertantly changed mowing lanes without realizing it. It may not have been a heart attack, but it sure did scare the s**t out of me (not literally, well maybe just a kernel). Remember, keep your head up and mow safe.

I have been looking for this group for the past 2 months. I bought a reel push mower, and have been loving my yard once or twice a week ever since. I find it very cathartic. Plus it's quiet enough that I don't have to destroy my ears with an iPod blaring over the sound of a motor.

I just mowed this morning. Man I love the smell of fresh cut grass. I have a bit of a weed problem in my front yard, I wonder if it's too late to put on some weed 'n feed?

Welcome to the club everyone! I enjoyed baking for about 2.5 hours in the yard this weekend. Mowed & edged, ran the string-trimmer, and used a new blade attachment to trim shrubs. TOOLS!

Kudos, Busy-Dad-E! This is a fun group idea. I LOVE to mow the grass. In fact, I often tell my two teen boys that I will mow the grass if they go clean the bathrooms, and they actually trade with me. haha
Totally with you on the thinking time. It's awesome. The only other time I get to think that much, uninterrupted, is when I'm ironing. (Hey, a new group: Dads who like to iron!) (Maybe not)
